Outside Television and RED Digital Cinema Announce REDIRECT 2016March 15, 2016
Westport, Conn. and Irvine, Ca (March 15, 2016) On a quest to find the most compelling adventure lifestyle story, Outside Television, America’s preeminent adventure television network, and RED Digital Cinema, a leading manufacturer of professional digital cameras, are partnering on REDirect Explore 2016, the third installment of RED’s REDirect film contest. Building on the previous themes of skate and surf, filmmakers this year will focus on exploring the outside world. Hand selected by Outside Television, ten talented cinematographers from around the globe will be challenged with creating, capturing and editing a captivating outdoor adventure lifestyle story plus a compelling still photo pulled from the footage. The contestants will shoot within a 60 day production window with final materials due on June 1st. The winners will be announced at an off-site viewing party on August 4th in conjunction to the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Each contestant will be provided with a RED SCARLET-W camera system plus gear and accessories from G-Technology, Dell, Carl Zeiss and f-stop, collectively valued at over $35,000, to use exclusively for the contest. Participants will be judged on both their “Best Moment in Time” still photo as well as their finished short film. The completed film and supplemental content, including behind the scenes footage captured during production, will be accessible via RED.com/redirect and OutsideTelevision.com. The competition’s Grand Prize Winner will be awarded the 5K SCARLET-W camera system plus all the gear used to shoot their winning entry.
